The final 6 chefs..finally. I remember an interview Gordon did the night of the first show where he stated "any of the last 6 can win this thing." Looking at the 6, Paula still has my vote.
Winning the challenge, fan favorite Robert and not so favorite Ben got to tour San Francisco. I love SF, having lived there several times over the years, and coincidentally my wife's hometown. After the expected tour by trolley through the hilly streets, Ramsay took them to One Market, just steps away from the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market at the end of Market Street. One Market is a great restaurant and one of San Francisco-based Bradley Ogden's original restaurants. Another is Parcel 104 at the Santa Clara Marriott, which has been a successful Bradley Ogden collaboration since 2000, highlighting local foods and partner farms.
I have enjoyed fantastic meals at One Market, and in fact included it on a 2005 Chef's Tour for Marriott Chefs. Brad's food has always been pretty simple and true to his philosophy of farm-to-market. Pretty easy when you are in Northern California and have one of the best modern farmers market in the world across the street! Occupying the site of the original Ferry Building built in 1898, the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market is a collection of amazing artisans, farmers, ranchers, oyster producers, and cheese makers. Operated by the Center for Urban Education about Sustainable Agriculture (CUESA), this is really a world class market. The city's
best chefs can be spotted roaming the stalls each morning, looking for inspiration that will be listed on countless menus by day's end. The food in San Francisco just tastes better, and the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market is a large part of the reason why.
Attached are a few photos from the Ferry Terminal taken while in San Francisco. What's on YOUR plate today? On mine, just make anything from the Farmers Market.
