Second week of Hell's Kitchen. I was fortunate to be in Ft Lauderdale Thursday and able to attend the weekly Hell's Kitchen screening at 3030 Ocean at Marriott's Harbor Beach Resort. This is quite a party! Paula, contestant Giovanni, her family, and judging by the roar every time she was onscreen, a whole bunch of Paula fans were there. So far Paula Da Silva has yet to be at the wrong end of a Ramsay "motivational speech". Episode Two was all about seafood. Paula worked the raw bar, shucking with a fury while the other contestants burned salmon, forgot key ingredients, and suffered miscues destined to plunge Chef Ramsay into despair. Finally, Chef Ramsay had seen enough of the others and reassigned Paula to finish out the dinner service back on the meat station.
In keeping with her on-screen shucking, we sampled oysters and ate seafood for the hour show. Giovanni, of polenta fame, shared his stories of episode two, ribbing Paula that the boys made it to Catalina and the red team girls stayed back to prep and clean. Don't worry guys, I am sure that what comes around goes around! No amount of questioning could coax any information out of Paula or Giovanni, so we will all have to keep watching. And if you happen to be in Ft. Lauderdale on a Thursday, come and check out the party.
Congrats Paula on another great week of Hell's Kitchen! What's on YOUR plate?
The 5th season's 2nd episode was the best! The surprising twist in the elimination left me in awe but saddened me as well because I had to watch my fast becoming favorite contender (Ji Cha) leave the show. Her selfless act of taking the team's welfare into consideration was very noble and I admire her more for that. I hope that they would bring her back to the show. I found that she has a web site, http://www.chefji.com with photos and you can email and even vote as to whether to have her back to the show!
