The Season Five of Gordon Ramsay’s Hell’s Kitchen begins this week (Thursday, Jan 29). The group photo shows Gordon’s “chef with arms crossed” stance surrounded by 16 chefs of various backgrounds. Some have that look of confidence that Gordon will quickly destroy, but they all share the knowledge that they have beat out a huge field of others who wish they were there. But there is one, standing confidently and securely over Gordon’s right shoulder that looks different from the rest. She looks like she can cook, and cook well. Her name is Paula DaSilva, and the Executive Sous Chef at 3030 Ocean in the Harbor Beach Marriott Resort & Spa in Ft Lauderdale.
Dean Max is the chef at 3030 and consulting chef at the sister restaurant Latitude 41 in the Columbus Renaissance. Dean is a great chef, but Paula runs the 3030 stoves most nights and I can tell you Gordon, don’t take her lightly. Paula is incredibly poised, organized, and I have seen her under intense pressure. She has never wavered. I can’t wait to see the show. I have no idea how far she gets, but it would not be a surprise to see her do VERY well. Watch what this Marriott Chef can do!
